Provisional Registration Information

Are you a non-credentialed individual working in the role of a veterinary technician and interested in becoming credentialed, but don't quite meet the credentialing requirements for an experience-based pathway? This information is for you! Provisional registrations are available through DORA until 12/31/2023 for those who will not complete the credentialing requirements for an experience-based pathway before 12/31/2023. Obtaining a provisional registration allows individuals until 12/31/2027 to complete the requirements.

Which Pathway is right for you?

  1. Pathway 1
    1. At least 6500 hours of work experience in the role of a veterinary technician in the 7 years prior to credential application submission date.
    2. Pass the VTNE
  2. Pathway 2
    1. At least 9000 hours of work experience in the role of a veterinary technician in the 7 years prior to credential application submission date.
  3. Don't know yet? That's ok! You can obtain a provisional registration and decide as you continue gaining work experience.

*If you will have the requirements completed for either Pathway 1 or 2 before 12/31/23, you do not have to complete the provisional registration and can apply for your credential by experience here.
