Speaker CE Approval

Did you know, you can submit Speaker Continuing Education Approval to the CACVT for private events like lunch & learns, CE at hospital meetings, and drug representative educational visits?  You will be helping your CVTs accumulate CE hours for on-site learning which can also be a great benefit as an employer. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic please see other temporary options for CE delivery below.*

Hosting a CE event for CVTs?  You now have the option to submit your CE for approval to be posted on the CACVT website!

  1. Please first review the CE Category Guidelines posted under Continuing Education to ensure your session meets the criteria for either Technical or Supportive CE before beginning.
  2. Complete the Speaker CE Approval Form in its entirety. You will be contacted via email regarding the status of your submission. It can take up to two weeks to review speaker CE approval submissions, so be sure to submit them well in advance of your event.

Thank you for your dedication to the education of CVTs!

Speaker CE Approval Form

Proof of Attendance

Any Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) that attends this lecture must receive “proof of attendance” which the presenter must provide. This can be any type of certificate that contains the following information:
  1. Attendees Name
  2. Date of presentation
  3. Time - written in duration and CE hours (9am-10am / 1 CE hour)
  4. Presentation Title
  5. Speaker, with credentials
  6. CE Location
  7. Presenting organization
  8. Signature of presenter
  9. CACVT approval number*
It is the responsibility of the presenter to provide the proof of attendance for the CE to the CVT. It is the responsibility of the Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to provide proof of CE to the CACVT to maintain credentialing.
*Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CACVT has made the decision to temporarily approve pre-recorded CE lectures. These approvals are for in-house events for staff sent to CACVT for approval or have already been approved. As this would technically make these events “online” (and subject to RACE approval requirements), RACE approval requirements are temporarily suspended when the following guidelines are met:
  1.  All current CE guidelines must be met (ie. equipment training cannot be used for CE). Click HERE for a list of current guidelines.
  2. Additional approval guidelines, similar to RACE:
    1. Objectives must be listed out for each lecture
    2. CACVT will provide an approval number for each lecture to be included on the CE certificate
    3. A quiz must be administered following each lecture (3 questions/hour of lecture) prior to the attendee receiving the CE certificate.
    4. A certificate must be issued for each lecture, with its individual approval number and an expiration date of June 30, 2020.

This will be a temporary procedure that applies ONLY to events planned prior to 3/30/2020 and were scheduled to be in-person events. New events or any other online CE that is not RACE approved do not qualify for this temporary approval procedure.  This policy (and associated CE hours) will expire on 6/30/2020 but CACVT reserves the right to discontinue this process at any time.
