In the past, were you certified with the CACVT and your certification has lapsed/expired?

Were you previously a CVT in Colorado, your certification has lapsed/expired, and you need to become registered? Follow the instructions below based on your expiration date.  

If you do not know exactly when your certification expired, please email [email protected] with your full name (including any previous alias), approximate date you were credentialed, and estimate of your VTNE pass date.

If your certification lapsed June 30, 2022:

To become credentialed, please complete the steps below:

  1. Submit of 40 hours of continuing education in your CE log

  2. Complete the Expired Credential Reinstatement Application
    1. Submit delinquent 2022-2024 credentialing fee of $152
    2. Submit reinstatement fee of $75
    3. Submit 2024-2026 credentialing fee of $150
Expired Credential Reinstatement Application

Each application must go through a review process to make sure the requirements are met, and the CE is approved. Once approved, you will receive a confirmation email with specific instructions on completing the registration process.

  1. Obtain your Proof of Credential Certificate (directions sent in confirmation email)
  2. Apply for registration with DORA.
    1. Registration with the state is a separate process through DORA's Department of Professions and Occupations.
      1. You will want to make an online account with DORA by clicking register at their login page.  Once they verify your email address, you can complete the application for veterinary technician registration. (If the link is reporting an error, try a different web browser or contact their help team at 303.894.2421 or [email protected])
    2. You will need your credential certificate in a digital file to complete the registration application.

 

If your certification lapsed June 30, 2020:

To become credentialed, please complete the steps below:

  1. Submit of 60 hours of continuing education in your CE log

  2. Complete the Expired Credential Reinstatement Application
    1. Submit delinquent credentialing fees of $152 per cycle (total= $304)
    2. Submit reinstatement fee of $75
    3. Submit 2024-2026 credentialing fee $150

    2. Submit reinstatement fee of $75

If your certification expired prior to June 30, 2018:

Reinstating your previous credential is no longer an option. However, if you graduated from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program, you may seek a credential by taking the following steps: 

  • Retake the VTNE
  • Submit a credential by examination application
